Valley Farmers Conference

The Valley Farmers Conference, jointly sponsored by the Valley Agricultural Center and the Newe Ya‘ar Research Center, was held on 4 December 18 at Newe Ya‘ar. The theme of the conference was “A Model Farm for Sustainable Agriculture as a Bridge between Research and Agricultural Practice”.

Various aspects of the Model Farm at Newe Ya‘ar were presented at the conference and a panel was hosted by Dr. Zohar Ben Simhon was attended by representatives of research teams and farmers.
The lectures of researchers at the Newe Ya’ar Research Center that were delivered at the conference were:
Dr. Yael Laor, Model Farm: How can we translate a great idea into a practical project?
Dr. Doron Holland: Experiments on a new almond orchard established as part of the Model Farm.
Dr. Ran Lati: Incorporating non-chemical means to manage weeds in large fields and orchards.
Dr. Ariel Shabtay: Establishing a precision-based feedlot at the Model Farm.
Dr. Roy Posmanik: Hydrothermal processing of livestock-waste: a circular economy approach to improve resource recovery and minimize environmental pollution.
Mr. Roy Raban, Business Manager of Kibbutz Ramat David: Sustainable agriculture in the practice test.
